Nepal New Zealand Friendship Night 2022

Nepal and New Zealand has special bonds since Sir Edmund Hillary and Mr Tenzing Norgay Sherpa jointly concord the Mt. Everest for the first time in 1953. Every year thousands of New Zealanders travel to Nepal.

Similarly, many Nepalese comes to New Zealand for higher study, work, and visit. It has been estimated almost 17,000 Nepalese lives in New Zealand. Additionally, there is a cultural similarity between Maori and some ethnic groups in Nepal. However, there is a lack of connecting people and building bridges among cultures and countries beyond mountaineering relationships. The United Nation also acknowledge that celebrating a friendship day assist to improve the relationship, bonding, and building those common bonds goes beyond sharing a trait, characteristic, or favourite pastime with another person or group, but also includes promoting a global commitment and understanding of diversity and inclusion. Nepalese Culture and Tourism Promotion forum New Zealand Inc (NCTPF-NZ) was established to build bridges among cultures, countries, and even ideologies between Nepal and New Zealand. To fulfill this aim, NCTPF-NZ aims to organise New Zealand Nepal friendship day on 3 October 2022. This interactive friendship program will provide information on the cultural diversity of both countries to interested parties that assist to develop relationship strategies for future policy development.
